Re-opening Process

June 26, 2020

Since we have reopened our doors and welcomed everyone back our goal has always been to do so in the most responsible and safest way possible. We want to continue to keep our families and students the number 1 priority.

We have received some very unfortunate news that one of the families of our school has tested positive for COVID-19. While the family has not been in the faculty in some time, we have decided to take extra precautions and close the school for the next 2 weeks.

We will be focusing on completely cleaning and disinfecting the school from the ground up. We have hired 2 new team members to focus on nothing but cleaning. We are also hiring Enviro Masters to do a weekly cleaning of the facility and a new Virus Vaporizing cleaning that completely kills Corona-virus.

We sincerely appreciate all the love and support and look forward to seeing everyone on July 13th.

During this time, we will be providing videos for students to follow and complete for class credits. If you are a student please join our private student group Pooler Karate, Krav Maga, and BJJ Students.

Online instruction will be posted on our Student Hub! Click “Hub” in the menu above or go to https://students.poolerkaratetsd.com.

Testing today will be done in a drive through format. Please stick to the same times as previously discussed. Students will drive by and receive the rank they have earned.

Re-opening Process

April 23, 2020

Pooler Karate, Krav Maga, and BJJ is excited to announce that we will begin our re-opening 3 Phase process starting 4/27/2020.

During this process the school will look a little different as we continue precautions to keep our students, families, and Instructors healthy and safe.

As per CDC guidelines, Pooler Karate will limit our building occupancy, and precautions are being taken to create safe social distancing.

Check-in process for students and family members will be as follows: Hand sanitizer will be given to individuals as they come in the building along with mask for those that do not have their own.

Instructors and team members will have their temperatures checked daily before stepping through the school doors.

Phase 1 (4/27/2020-5/1/2020)

  • Private lessons that are scheduled through Pooler Karate will be allowed to come in and train with individual Instructors one on one. STUDENTS MUST CALL AND SCHEDULE UNLESS PREVIOUSLY DISCUSSED
  • Zoom one on one private lessons can also be scheduled through Pooler Karate and set up with Instructors
  • Online training will continue for those students and families that are not comfortable coming into the school. This schedule will be the same as the previous 6 weeks.

Phase 2 (5/4/2020-5/29/2020)

  • PK Schedule will be modified for safe social distancing. This means there will be no self-defense, fighting, or grappling with a partner until Phase 3 of this
  • BJJ classes will be conducted without a partner using a grappling dummy
  • Zoom one on one private lessons can also be scheduled through Pooler Karate and set up with Instructors
  • Online training will continue for those students and families that are not comfortable coming into the school. This schedule will be the same as the previous 6 weeks

Phase 3 (6/1/2020)

  • Classes will resume with normal schedule

During all 3 Phases Pooler Karate team will disinfect frequently used areas and equipment. We are asking members to do the following:

  • Wash or sanitize your hands often (Pooler Karate will provide hand soap and hand sanitizer)
  • Bring a mask if you have one (If not 1 will be provided)
  • Give each other space and follow the social distancing guidelines
  • If possible, we are asking that parents please drop off their kids or remain in their vehicles during class.
  • Pooler Karate also recommends that all VULNERABLE INDIVIDUALS stay home and, most importantly, if you feel sick, have a fever, are coughing, have difficulty breathing, or if in the last two weeks you been in close contact with a person with a suspected or confirmed case of COVID-19, please stay home.

All phases are contingent on state and local official guidance. Please be flexible and continue to work with us.

Message from Mr. Fortner

March 20, 2020
In compliance with the declaration issued by Chatham County, we are being forced to close our facility as of Saturday 3/21/2020. This means that we can not hold formal classes at any point during the next week or so (or until they relinquish the declaration).
All classes will be going to online training. Please look for the updates here and make sure to join our private group Pooler Karate, Krav Maga, and BJJ Students for classes.

Remember, true leadership begins with keeping a level head and remaining calm in every circumstance. You can control YOU and others will follow if you lead by example.

We will keep you posted as to when we will re-open – I sure hope soon. In the mean time, keep training “Work Hard,Train Hard, This is the only secret.”

Respectfully,
Carson Fortner
